Here are examples of a very diverse range of sites that I have done in the past (Some are no longer available). While my focus is on Silicon Valley industries, I can and have done just about anything!
johnsimmonshypertext.com - this website!
This website has gone through several iterations over the years. The site follows a simple and clean design, symbolizing HyperText with medieval manuscripts. Several features under the hood connect the site to a CRM, a calendering application, eCommerce funnels, a web-to-phone system, a chat robot and more. This is an illustration that any business website is like an iceberg - only part of the magic is visible!
Abstraction Engineering
Abstraction Engineering is a premier firm that conducts safety testing for Silicon Valley machinery, especially wafer fabrication equipment and labs, but also a range of high-tech industrial equipment. This site was done as a demo of the "endless scroll" type of site with a lot of animations and flair. Several markets like sites of this type. In the final analysis, a cleaner simpler site was the best fit for this industry (see below).
Abstraction Engineering
Abstraction Engineering is a premier firm that conducts safety testing for Silicon Valley machinery, especially wafer fabrication equipment and labs, but also a range of high-tech industrial equipment. This site is a simple clean site that describes the services available, has basic information like an FAQ, and leader forms for contact and getting a copy of the book produced by Abstraction Engineering. I have edited several iterations of the book, which is a dense technical tome about Safe Machinery. It turned out to be the only marketing piece that the firm needed to establish itself as a leader in the industry.
Queendom Thinking
Queendom Thinking is an inspiring site that exists to establish a community of women who refuse to compete against each other but instead Champion for one another. It includes a podcast, a blog, a member site, a women's business directory, mentor matching, community merch, and consulting packages.
Campaign Landing Page - Ensofia Inc.
This is a landing page for a case study where Ensofia developed a tool for clinics to be able to handle caseload and screening during the height of the Covid Pandemic. I frequently will develop campaign landing pages rather than full sites, but I match the branding, look and feel of the company site. Campaigns are time sensitive, so these pages are developed using what I call the "rapid-deployment" sprint, in order to get the campaign running quickly. I also wrote the case study (see the Content section).
Safety Evidence
This is another company that deals with safety and liability. The site was less my design, and more the specification of the customer (I will do designs that I think work for your company, but I will also do exact designs as desired). This site also includes one of my 3D Web offerings - a machinima animation that serves as an illustration (see the 3D Web section under hosting & help -->Add-Ons & Other Services--->3D Web).
Ta.tteasy
This is a site for a temporary Tatoo kiosk that can do high-resolution tattoos from images. This was another site that used video and 3D Web elements such as a 3D mockup of the kiosk (see the 3D Web section under hosting & help -->Add-Ons & Other Services--->3D Web).
CBD-United
This was an eCommerce site to sell CBD products. I am grateful for having done this site, as I was introduced to the health benefits of CBD for sleep and pain management. CBD had been recently been made legal in all states, but it was still too new to be accepted by banks and credit card processors. One outcome of that frustration is that I now ask more pointed questions during website discovery consulting sessions and initial meetings about your business and market research to make sure that your total business system is going to work before I build a site.
Saratoga Russian Festival
St. Nicholas Orthodox Church of Saratoga hosted a Slavic/Russian Festival every year in the fall until the Pandemic (it may return at some point in the future). The site served as an on-site program app as well as marketing for the festival. The site got quite busy prior to and during the festival. A screenshot was seen on the evening news.
St. Nicholas Orthodox Church
I have also done a site for St. Nicholas Orthodox Church of Saratoga (the host of the above festival). This is a relatively simple site but has a few bells and whistles (at least bells!). During the Pandemic, you could even light a candle in the church through the site. The site also hosts a monthly newsletter.
Pirate's Atoll - a website for a virtual world metaverse
There is (and has been) a lot of hype about living and working in the metaverse. I've been doing it for over 10 years! I have a virtual island using the Open Simulator platform, and this site exists to help people access some of its features. The virtual world hosts a virtual conference center, several entertainment venues, and a machinima film studio for producing films and models for the 3D Web.
You can visit piratesatoll.com
Conferenceware - a site to put virtual conferencing apps in one place
I built this to make online conferencing easier, by having everything in one place. I use a computer or TV screen metaphor because it is easier to use in the metaverse that way. The rapid changes in conferencing tech since the pandemic means that this site is always slightly out of date, but feel free to use it for your conferences and zoom meetings.
